Composite veneers

Are a resin-based conservative alternative to porcelain veneers. In many cases, they require little to no drilling of the tooth and give a natural appearance while refreshing your smile. This material is placed on the front surface of your teeth to smooth out and recreate your smile. These veneers are the most cost effective restorative treatment without the price tag of porcelain veneers. Composite veneers can be placed over natural tooth structure without destroying the tooth surface, and if you change your mind they can usually be removed without damaging the natural tooth. Unlike porcelain veneers, composite veneers can be repaired if damaged or polished if staining occurs. Disadvantages, they are not as strong as porcelain veneers and require more maintenance and polishing to keep them looking their best.

These veneers are thin, tooth coloured porcelain (ceramic), which bond to the tooth surface to cover the front of your teeth and enhance your smile. Most porcelain veneers require preparation of the tooth surface, but in some special cases a “zero preparation” veneer could be used. The veneer is carefully crafted by a dental laboratory to create a custom tooth to the shape and colour of your liking, and can be exactly matched to the colour of your teeth. Porcelain veneers can completely reshape your smile. They are a more conservative option than a complete crown, are an ideal solution to close gaps, straighten crooked teeth, repair chips and cover permanent stains.

Once the porcelain veneers are fitted, just like a crown, they require optimal and regular at home oral hygiene care, as well as comprehensive check-up and clean every 6 months with your dentist. If veneers are not taken care of decay can creep under the veneer, which will lead to loss of your veneer.
